Area orchards invite visitors to pick their own apples as Wilson's Orchard in Iowa City markets more than 120 varieties plus turnovers cider and pies. Honey Creek Acres Swisher grows many varieties with plans for a bakery next year and cider vinegar debut. Orchardists stress apples must ripen fully and may not look perfect yet taste great.
