Cedar Rapids to vote Monday on school race and four measures
Voters in Cedar Rapids and seven Kirkwood district counties will select three of eight school board candidates for three year terms. Incumbents Ernest Pence and Waldo Berger seek re election. Barnes O Donnell retires. New candidates include Kenneth Barger Russell Hauskins Ronald Moore William Moss Wallace Pinckney and Steve Severn. Four public measures cover Cedar Rapids and Kirkwood schools with bond and funding questions. Polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at regular city precincts.

College Community to Elect Board Candidates Monday
Three candidates seek each of two three year terms on the College Community school board as polls open 7 am to 8 pm across five precincts. Incumbent Fred Stigers faces Cedar Rapids residents John Anderson Jr and Keith Young in district No. 2 with voting open to all district residents.

Wagga Wagga Hosts World Brick Carrying Championship
In October the New South Wales town hosts the so called world brick carrying championships. The contest prizes the farthest distance with a seven and a half pound brick held in a downward one handed position. World champion Ron Hamilton of Western Australia is among the competitors aiming to beat his 30 mile record.

Special Education Workshop Saturday Focus on Individualized Instruction
