Brett Feuerhelm 41 of Van Horne charged with vehicular homicide and reckless driving after a motorcycle crash at 12th Street and 29th Avenue SW killed passenger Shawna Skinner 34 in Jesup. Police say he admitted drinking four beers and taking medication. BAC 0.088. Bond set at 100000. If convicted, up to 25 years.

Equipment operator dies in backhoe accident near Mount Vernon
Justin D. Steenhard a 31 year old Elma resident died after a backhoe with a loader tipped over along Springville Road just north of Abbe Hills Road in Linn County. Deputies responded about 9 30 a m and found the operator trapped beneath the machine. Construction work by a private company contracted through Linn County was underway in the area.
