Kirkwood receives $10000 Sears-Roebuck grant for region
Kirkwood Community College earned a $10,000 Sears-Roebuck Foundation Partnership Development Fund grant to bolster Eastern Iowa economic development. Executive director Steve Ovel said funds support forming a seven-county regional coordinating council and a coordinated plan with local employers and the college. Hal Armstrong presented the grant to Kirkwood board president Wayne Newton at Cedar Rapids.

A 1:30 p.m. Sunday ceremony marks the opening of the east entrance to the Volga River Recreation Area. IDOT selects forecaster from Wisconsin for winter
The Iowa Department of Transportation chose Great Lakes Weather Service of Wausau Wisconsin to provide forecasts this winter. The contract totals $17461 when telephone charges are included.
