Photo Booth Memories and Mississippi Vessels in Iowa City
A first person reminiscence visits a lifelong hobbyist’s photos from a 1960s era photo booth in Iowa City. The piece details John Fay’s 12 years running booths at Kmart and Deadwood bar, the photo process, and the sense of instant posterity from self capturing images. The writer reflects on personal morning routines with the machines and the broader culture of in store photo booths.
