Church Embraces Divorced Catholics Motivate Ministry
Sister Paula Ripple of the North American Conference of Separated and Divorced Catholics spoke at an Eastern Iowa conference about the church's growing ministries for divorced and separated Catholics. She outlined support groups, clergy involvement, and the shift in church attitudes since the 1977 excommunication law change, noting many dioceses now host such ministries and that divorce does not bar participation in most sacraments.
