Jury Chosen in Mail Fraud Case Against W F Todd
A Des Moines federal court jury was selected for the 23 count mail fraud trial of W F Todd 48 of Marion. The indictment by a Davenport grand jury also named nine other men seven of whom were Des Moines residents. The defendants allegedly used the mails to market a fibrous exterior house surfacing material. Todd pleads innocent while seven co defendants pleaded guilty on one count each with sentences postponed for probation review. Remaining counts against the others were dismissed.

Step Taken To Drop Police Post In Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids city council began action Monday to abolish the deputy chief post in the police department. An ordinance was introduced for the first of three readings with more to come next Monday. If approved, Deputy Chief Norman Young would revert to detective.
