Red Clergy Testimony Is Unveiled
Washington AP reports testimony before the House Un American Activities Committee alleged that 600 or more American clergymen are secret members of the Communist party and 3,000 to 4,000 more are fellow travelers. Former Communist leaders testified in New York last July. Senator Jenner noted two New Yorkers identified as active participants in such organizations. Witnesses in education numbered 73 who refused to answer questions about Communist ties. Kornfeder described a plan to infiltrate religion, aiming to turn churches into instruments of social strife. Ward of the Methodist Federation denied church ties and said the group visited Moscow in the 1920s.

HOLLYWOOD UP Lucille Ball testified she registered to vote Communist in a 1936 primary to please her Socialist grandfather and never joined the party or voted for a Communist candidate. Rep Jackson said investigations show she signed a sponsor certificate for a Communist candidate and was later on the state central committee, but no witness placed her at a party meeting. Desi Arnaz and Ball denied any party membership.

Cedar Rapids Airmen Listed Among Still Missing in Korea
Cedar Rapids officers Capt. Robert M. Krumm and Lt. Dominique K. Martin were named on a revised list of American personnel still missing after reports of communist imprisonment in Korea. Martin, shot down May 5, 1952, went missing with two other pilots. Mrs. Martin, formerly Rosemarie Knowles, said witnesses saw him parachute and run uphill. Krumm, a B-29 commander, was shot down in 1951 and previously listed as missing in World War II. Other Iowa and Midwest airmen were also named on the continuing missing list.
