Medicine Man and Family Wagon Route to Cedar Rapids

Kalona residents welcomed a modern medicine man known as Doc Charly and his family traveling by mule team and a cut-down CB Ford van. They left Navajo, Arizona on June 24 and head to Cedar Rapids to visit Patsy’s parents, planning to continue next summer with 200 wagons from California to Washington, D.C.

Three Die in Solon Highway Crash Near Iowa City

A one car crash on highway 1 twenty four miles south of Solon at 6 30 p m Saturday night killed three men and left another seriously injured. Victims were Dennis W Ryan 22 Solon Thomas R Reuter 32 Iowa City and Randal Dean Lenz 21 Solon. Dennis Ryan twin Danny James Ryan is in serious condition at Mercy Hospital Iowa City with multiple injuries.

Powell: Lance story to be told in public forum

Jody Powell said President Carter must let Lance defend himself in a senate hearing while not abandoning overall support. A district 11 spokesman said Saturday the Iowa Highway Patrol is exploring options for a new Cedar Rapids headquarters. Lt. Richard Reddick called the current Cedar Rapids facility inadequate and noted it is too early to discuss details while hinting construction may be planned at an intersection.
