Vinton parks director faces pay raise debate

The Vinton City Council sent the proposal to raise Parks Director Duane Randall’s salary to the General Government Committee. If approved the $12,600 bump would make him the highest paid department head, with IPERS and tax implications cited as reasons for both sides. Randall, 51, has lived rent-free in Riverside Park for about 20 years, a practice the board says supports retirement benefits but raises equity questions for him and the city.
