Community Theater to Hold Technical Workshop Series
Cedar Rapids Community Theater kicks off a four day series of technical theater workshops in September 2023. Mikel-Jon Conner leads sessions on scenic painting for high school and college students and theater volunteers statewide. Sessions run daily with optional Saturday gatherings and a volunteer lunch for participants from over 40 theaters. The event is free for ICTA members. non members pay 1.50 includes ICTA one year membership. Reservations encouraged by group size. Future workshops cover lighting, costumes, properties, and scenic design.

Encore Theater to stage The Fantasticks at Roosevelt Hotel
Encore Dinner Theater at the Roosevelt Motor Hotel announces The Fantasticks opening Sept 23. Directors and cast pursue a lean musical comedy with familiar songs and a wall motif, directed by Alice Anderson. Performances run September through November with reservations at 364-4111.

Dr William L Jones named director of Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies
