Higher education slows enrollment growth at Iowa universities
Iowa State University and the University of Iowa report smaller freshman classes this fall while total enrollment remains up. ISU lists 36 321 total students with a 5 944 freshman class down from 6 325 in 2016 and UI reports 5 029 freshmen, ranking third in US history for size. The state boards consider tuition changes as state support wanes.
