Tree With Skull Marks Self-Defense Over Damaged Maple
For 25 years the Sextons of Raleigh have endured nightly car disruptions from a curve on Lake Wheeler road. After replacing their mailbox for the 16th time they painted a skull and crossbones on a wooden slab and nailed it to the scarred maple to deter drivers. The family argues the tree itself is innocent and the drivers are at fault.
