Dictionary Exposes Thousands of Fake French Nobility
Paris published Dictionnaire de la Noblesse Francaise purports 4,057 true noble French families while omitting 23,943 other titleholders. Authors Count de Saint Simon and Baron de la Sereville spent 15 years researching and 14 months writing the 1,214 page volume. The work notes many titled readers are unlisted and highlights notable omissions like the Rothschilds and Giscard d Estaing, while naming leftwing figures as having noble birth. The book argues France’s nobility will largely fade in 400 years and marks the 300th anniversary of Saint Simon’s family.
