Brandon residents will honor Mr. and Mrs. Leslie J. Halstead with an open house at the United Methodist church social room Sunday from 2 to 4 to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Hosts are their daughters Mrs. Ruth Clark of Rowley and Mrs. Walter Davis of Corpus Christi Texas. The couple wed September 15 in Cedar Rapids and have nine grandchildren.
Miss Karen Emily Cecak daughter of Mr and Mrs John M Cecak Toledo married Patrick Howard Weaver son of the Harold E Weavers in a 10 oclock ceremony at St Patrick’s Catholic church. The bride wore a lace over peau de soie gown with chapel train and carried daisies and yellow roses. The couple plans to reside in Cedar Rapids after a Denver honeymoon.
Mr and Mrs Bruce Cottrell will be guests of honor at an open house at the Newhall Legion hall Sunday from 1 to 4. They were married Aug 29 at Adair Oklahoma. Hosts for the reception will be the bridegroom's aunts and uncles. Parents are Mr and Mrs Ewald Diennig of Chelsea Oklahoma and Mr and Mrs Charles Cottrell of 4631 Midway Drive NW.
Miss Phyllis O'Hara and David Sterk wed Saturday at Sacred Heart Church Lost Nation in a ceremony led by Rev Tom McConville. The bride wore organza over taffeta with a Watteau train and lace appliqué. They plan to reside in Lost Nation after a wedding trip to the western states.
Miss Mary Ellen Jean Wolfe daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest P Wolfe of Marion and Joseph Eugene Haas son of Mrs Rita Haas and Eugene Haas of Coggan were married Saturday in a 7 o clock ceremony at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev Aleck Ulmet officiating The bride wore an Empire satin gown with lace bodice and full length train and carried white carnations with a jeweled petal crown securing her elbow length veil Honor attendants included Mrs
Denny Snow and Terri Reily wed with Terri in a yellow dotted Swiss gown and Reily in a yellow satin Empire dress trimmed in white lace. Gerald Brislawn served as best man and Steve Stickley as groomsman. Flowers were yellow daisies and bronze pompons. A 125 guest reception followed at the YWCA. The bride works at Bishop's cafeteria and the couple will live near Marion where Mr Haas farms.
