Mutt and Jeff Creator Bud Fisher Dies at 69

Bud Fisher, 69, creator of the Mutt and Jeff comic strip, died Tuesday of cancer in New York. He launched the strip for the San Francisco Chronicle in 1907, then drew a contract with William Randolph Hearst in 1908. Fisher was born Harry Conway Fisher in Chicago on April 3, 1885.
