Iowa City School Board Eyes Shifting SILO Funds To Elementary Schools
The Iowa City school board weighs reallocating 3.2 million dollars set aside for a planned high school under the SILO tax. Some members favor funding eastern area elementary schools and additions to ease overcrowding, while others push to keep the high school plan for 2015–2017. The policy sunset allows reallocation with three readings, amid community debate between east side needs and north Liberty concerns.
