Jury Deliberates Eight Hours in Glass Sexual Abuse Trial

The Cedar Rapids man Peter Christian Glass, 35, faces third degree sexual abuse charges after a Dec 15 incident in Iowa City. DNA evidence supported intimate contact. Glass claims consensual sex in a vacant apartment bathroom. Jurors paused Thursday and returned Friday, with Glass in Johnson County Jail awaiting further actions.

Cedar Rapids man injured in motorcycle wreck on Center Point Road

Ted Bascom, 34, of 923 10th St. SE, Cedar Rapids, was hurt while attempting a wheelie on a westbound motorcycle at 1053 Center Point Rd. NE. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for surgery on a serious foot injury and remained in serious condition. Passenger Penny Youngbear, 26, of 719 Third St. SW, apt. 8, Cedar Rapids, suffered no injuries.

Bank president confronts would-be robber in Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids bank president Jeff Steffensmeier told a note-wielding robber no and followed him for six blocks until police arrested Philip Toth, 35, charged with second degree robbery. Toth remained jailed on 35000 bail as police link him to two prior U S Bank robberies.
