Cedar Rapids Auto Club Funds Stop Signs on Nineteenth Street
Traffic Captain Gordon Hughes said the Cedar Rapids Automobile Club financed about half of the $220 cost for 19th Street SE stop signs from First Avenue to Mount Vernon Road. The city covered the rest, and three weeks ago the illuminated signs and posts were installed after the council designated the street for through traffic. The club contributed $100, with city funds paying the balance. Hughes said the club manager J T Taylor was approached after learning of Chicago Motor Club support for street markets in that city.
