Union members tout value at Cedar Rapids Labor Day picnic
In Cedar Rapids 1800 attendees at Hawkeye Downs marked Labor Day amid a 2010s era clampdown on worker rights in Iowa. IBEW Local 405 member Dustin Chase warned that state employee bargaining has worsened while construction unions share the sense of attack on workers. Politicians and candidates handed out information and served food as they joined activities and discussed unions.
