Cedar Rapids Reports August New Home Permits

Cedar Rapids issued permits for 22 new homes valued at 87 575 in August. Total permits were 731 with fees 1302.85. Remodeling covered 113 dwellings for 72 100 and eight commercials for 30 147. Garage work totaled 32 new 6860 and 14 garages remodeled 1415. Barns sheds three 430 chapel reroofed 150 foundations five 1850 hotel remodeled 500. Last year 762 permits and 1395 15.

Court house news reports six divorce petitions charging cruel and inhuman treatment. Donald M. Casner seeks a divorce from Marjorie L. Casner and restoration of her maiden name. Marie Root seeks a divorce from Rexford Root. they have two children. Gertrude Blake seeks divorce from Kenneth Blake with custody of their child. R. R. Kepler seeks divorce from Barbara Mae Kepler with three children. Alice Marie Schnare seeks divorce from Fred Herman Schnare with alimony and injunction. Viola Marie Spicher seeks divorce from Donald Henry Spicher with $250 alimony. they have no children.

Goyers Modification Bid Denied in Custody Fight

Judge G K Thompson denied William Goyers request to modify the divorce decree granting custody to him for two minor children. The March 11 1939 split is noted. City Council Approves Curb, Gutter at Key Streets

City council on Thursday approved curb and gutter for Twenty-fifth Street SE from Mount Vernon Avenue to 361.5 feet south of Eleventh Avenue and Hamilton Street SW from Nineteenth Avenue to Twenty-First Avenue. The panel also instructed Iowa Electric Light and Power to install street lights at Thirtieth Street SE north of Bever Avenue, Washington Avenue SE between Twentieth and Twenty-First Streets, the south end of Cobbancourt SE, and F Avenue NE at the intersection.
