Iowa Windmill & Pump Co Emerges In Cedar Rapids
In 1890 Flint & Walling opened a Cedar Rapids distribution center for Star Wind Mills. A year later it began manufacturing locally, naming Iowa Windmill & Pump Co. Enlon D. McCartney led the Cedar Rapids branch with his family, buying Seventh Avenue West land for a 28,000 square foot building. By 1901 the yard and factory spanned two acres with rail access linking goods to multiple western states.
