UI second in Big Ten for alcohol sales in stadium

The University of Iowa sold 111000 in alcohol at Kinnick Stadium during 2010, ranking second among four Big Ten schools selling booze in stadium suites. Wisconsin sold about 160000, with Iowa and Wisconsin drinks similar at seven home games.

Big Ten Stadium Alcohol Sales Policy Across Schools

In the Big Ten alcohol sales rules several schools ban alcohol in stadiums including Indiana Minnesota Michigan Michigan State Nebraska Northwestern Ohio State and Penn State. Northwestern luxury seats include two free drinks while Penn State suite owners may bring their own alcohol.

State's first dove hunt provides challenges

Four first time dove hunters enjoyed opening day on Iowa's first dove season near Lamont. Jeff Mescher and Pat Mescher with Ron Sperflage and a correspondent bagged 24 doves in a Buchanan County pasture. They used a spinning-wing decoy setup and stationary decoys, taking cover in the tall grass under a hot afternoon sun.
