Bond requests OK'd despite 2 'no' votes
Cedar Rapids approved about 5 million dollars in industrial development and pollution control bonds for Shattuck Chemical to finance work at its molybdenum roasting plant in the old water pollution control site. Resolutions passed 3 to 2. Mayor Don Canney and Safety Commissioner Floyd Bergen opposed. The bonds do not levy taxes and are repaid by the borrower. Canney said he opposed the facility type though not the bonds.
