Jeff Kearney, 20, Cedar Rapids student and son of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Kearney, disappeared in the Missouri River after his inner tube hit a docked barge near Sioux City. Authorities search with scuba divers as two companions swam nearby. Kearney, born May 1, 1950, was to begin classes at Morningside College. the misshap occurred Tuesday night.
President Suharto flew to the Netherlands for a state visit that was shortened by Monday's raid on the Indonesian ambassador's home in Jakarta Local police cited security concerns and the trip was cut brief as a result by the Dutch government and Indonesian officials were not immediately available for comment

A bomb exploded in a car parked outside the U S embassy in Athens on Wednesday. Police said two people, a man and a woman, were killed and a third person was critically injured. The blast shattered windows in the embassy building.
