Rancher Stays Put to Demand Water and Ranch
Truckee California rancher Bernard Dobbas plans to remain on a one and a half acre island inside a 600 acre clearing as bulldozers work on the 91.75 million Middle Fork American river project. Dobbas seeks a water system that won’t freeze and a ranch like his current one. He has resisted removal since the summer and vows not to leave while the large dam and canal work continues nearby.
