Wind Industry Conference Opens at Kirkwood College
Prospective wind turbine suppliers toured Acciona Wind's plant as Kirkwood Community College hosted a conference on wind turbine supply opportunities. Dale Beckman of the Great Lakes Wind Network highlighted the vast parts count from 30 in small residential units to 8000 in utility turbines and noted opportunities for smaller suppliers in yaw systems and blade-hub attachments. The event, sponsored by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association International, drew about 95 preregistered attendees with sessions continuing at the Hotel at Kirkwood Center.

Deere & Co will sell its wind energy business to a subsidiary of Exelon for 900 million dollars. Large banks earn billions while small lenders struggle
Banks posted 21.6 billion in net income in the April to June quarter, the FDIC said, led by institutions with over 10 billion in assets which earned 19.9 billion.
