Labonte Ends 156-Race Winless Streak in Last Southern 500
Terry Labonte captured NASCAR’s final Southern 500 on Labor Day weekend at Darlington Raceway. The 54th running saw Labonte surge past Kevin Harvick after a quick 13.11 second stop on lap 335, then hold on to win by 1.651 seconds as Harvick settled for runner-up. The historic race marked the end of an extended drought for the veteran driver and closed a chapter in stock car racing history.
