Linn District Court in First Avenue division sentenced twenty five persons on drunk driving charges. Notable cases include William P. Cox II 20 of Marion given 10 days for violating a suspended sentence from 1980 while Patty Newhouse 28 of Marion received 60 days suspended pending probation and drunk driving related charges. Seventeen others received probation on deferred sentences. Some defendants had charges dismissed or were serving sentences elsewhere.
Four candidates vie for two College Community school board seats and will face questions from moderator Jim Powers, past executive chairman. The session starts at 7 30 p m in Prairie High School Little Theater, with four questions per candidate and a 20 to 30 minute audience Q A window before the event ends around 9 p m. The College Community Club sponsors the forum ahead of the Sept 8 school elections.
