West Berlin mayor Willy Brandt said his Socialists would form a national government representing all parties if they win the September 17 election, excluding Chancellor Adenauer for alleged improper conduct. The Christian Democrats denounced the plan as misleading campaigning.
Des Moines Iowa UP I reports that Robert Wilke a 31 year old Iowa Highway Patrolman who admitted abandoning his duties to spend a weekend with Nancy Grubbs was fired by Safety Commissioner Carl Pesch. The case involved a phony kidnapping claim and a subsequent embezzlement charge over a revolver. Grubbs was sentenced to 60 days for tossing the revolver into Lake Chariton.
William Z. Foster aged 85 former head of the U S Communist party died Friday in a Moscow sanitarium. He led the party during active years and was a noted political figure. Early reports indicate illness preceded the death and burial plans are not yet announced.
