Mrs Harold Ickes 61 wife of the interior secretary was killed in a motor car collision near Santa Fe New Mexico. A taxicab driver and a Turkish attache were injured and the hit and run driver fled. President Roosevelt sent condolences and funeral services are planned in Winnetka Illinois. Mrs Ickes had been a student of Indian life and wrote under the name Anna Ickes Land.
Washington AP says after signing the TVA bill President Roosevelt will consider remaining measures at Hyde Park New York. Officials indicate some minor bills may be pocket vetoed while major legislation has been approved.
Joe Crosson the famed Alaska aviator who brought the bodies of Will Rogers and Wiley Post to Seattle on August 19 left on the steamship Alaska for Juneau to resume duties in the northbound region four days after Post’s plane wreck.
