Conservationist Aims To Restore Honey Creek Habitat
Chad Graeve, 33, a natural resource specialist with the Pottawattamie County Conservation Board, leads efforts at Hitchcock Nature Center to restore native grasslands. He began a prescribed fire program in 1998 and helped establish wildfire suppression this era to reduce tree encroachment and erosion in Loess Hills. He plans a 50 year project to recreate a healthy habitat and has turned down higher paying jobs to stay near Honey Creek with his wife Amy and daughter Mary.
