Decorah Teens Injured in Highway 9 Crash
Decorah reports two teen boys injured in a single vehicle crash Sunday morning on Highway 9 three miles east of town. James Viste, 17, of rural Decorah, suffered severe neck injuries and was airlifted to a Rochester Minnesota hospital. Richard Hammell, 17, also of rural Decorah, endured head and back injuries and remained hospitalized locally. Authorities said wet road conditions caused Viste to lose control, sending the car into a spillway, skidding across the road, clipping a telephone pole, and overturning into a ravine.
