A Wallaces Farmer poll of Wisconsin farm people shows 66 percent backing President Johnson and 29 percent for Sen. Goldwater, with five percent undecided. The survey was completed six days earlier in rural areas across the state.

A man posing as a Goldwater security officer eluded Cedar Rapids police after noon on Wednesday. He was seen at a charter bus of Republican supporters from Decorah and later at a downtown tavern, carrying a pistol and asking about radicals. Police have not identified him.
Clinton county Republican chair man George Pillers accused Democratic attorney general candidate Lawrence Scalise and the liquor commission of politicking with liquor discounts to tavern owners before the election. Scalise, a former enforcement director, acknowledged the discount was political in an appearance before the Kiwanis club.

William Bohlken 22 of route three Anamosa suffered head and facial lacerations in a crash two miles west of Prairieburg. He was in good condition at Monticello hospital. Deputy Schade said he lost control on a gravel road, slid 196 feet, and ran into a ditch before being charged with failure to have his car under control. Passenger Larry Tdjan 19, also of rural Anamosa, received abrasions and was released.
