Living Costs Rise to New All Time Top
Washington government reports September cost of living at a record high for the fourth straight month. Prices rose two tenths of one percent from August to September, led by apparel rent and medical care, with food prices falling slightly but not offsetting the rise. The index reached 115.2 percent of 1947-49 prices. The annual rise remains about 1.2 percent since January, and the index is 132 percent above prewar levels. Wholesale index slips to six month low
