Foreign policy outline gains Americans call for steady power
The editorial lauds President Truman's New York address as concise and principled, endorsing a postwar stance that maintains U S military strength to deter threats. It warns some nations may resist the emphasis on freedom for small nations and Monroe Doctrine affirmation, but urges Americans to recognize a clear direction and durable resolve. An Eldora inmate shooting is noted as accidental amid debate over state guard deployment, with emphasis on full fact revelation. A foreign policy critique from Australia questions the constant rush for top status in America.
