Dubuque Man Held Here On U S Liquor Charge
Leroy Duggan aged 49 of Dubuque was jailed in Linn county after failing to post bond. United States Commissioner R L Whelan committed him to the federal grand jury on charges of illegal possession and transportation of alcohol. Arthur Boardman also of Dubuque was brought to Cedar Rapids for a preliminary hearing but released when evidence was deemed insufficient.

Incomes Of Americans Rise By Two Billion Dollars
The Commerce Department estimated Americans earned two billion dollars more in wages dividends and other incomes in the first nine months of the year than the same period in 1938. The nine month total reached 50.789 billion dollars and if the trend holds the 1939 total would reach about 68.6 billion, versus last year's 66.275 billion.
