Mounted Picker Burns After Oil Hose Breaks
A hose on a tractor ignited and sprayed oil, causing a fire among three mounted corn pickers on the Gerald Ronald farm about 30 miles southeast of Lowden. Lowden firemen were summoned to extinguish the blaze after the equipment caught fire in a field.

Iowa Cition Pleads to Embezzlement Charge
Special to The Gate Iowa City Joseph Simoosky former manager of Ford Hopkins store pleaded innocent to embezzlement by agent. He was remanded to county jail in lieu of 1000 bond awaiting further proceedings. County Attorney Ralph Neuzil alleges Simoosky embezzled 300 to 3500 dollars from the store in late September. MT VERNON New York Robert P Dana assistant professor of English at Cornell college has received a 1200 grant from the Mary Roberts Rhinehart foundation of New York City. The award supports completing a volume of poems tentatively titled Vime's Plague. Dana has taught at Cornell since 1954 and contributed to Hillside Press student chap books. Waubeek Boy Hurt In Fall from Shed
