William J. Meehan, lifelong Cedar Rapids resident, died Wednesday after a brief illness. Born June 15, 1895, he worked 27 years as a butcher for Wilson and Company and belonged to the Holy Name Society of Immaculate Conception church. Survived by a daughter and granddaughter, both in Cedar Rapids, his wife had died in June 1959. The body lies at Monahan-Stewart funeral home with calling after 11 a.m. Friday. Services Saturday at 8 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Maurice S. Sheehy officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary. Rosary recited Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home by Msgr. Sheehy and Holy Name Society.
Frances Kiroll Stanek died Wednesday at 3040 Cottage Grove SE. Born December 2, 1882 in Czechoslovakia she lived in Cedar Rapids 51 years. Survived by four daughters two sons five grandchildren five great grandchildren and a sister and brother in Czechoslovakia. Services at Janeba funeral home at 2 Saturday conducted by Rev Milo Filipi. burial at Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 Friday.
Mary K Harwood widow of Forest H Harwood and former Cedar Rapids resident died Wednesday in Detroit. Born June 11 1876 in Rock Island she leaves two daughters Mrs Richard Wagner of Birmingham Michigan and Mrs Robert Alexander of Short Hills New Jersey a son Forest H Harwood Jr of Cedar Rapids a sister Adah K Seely of Cedar Rapids five grandchildren and three great grandchildren Memorial services will be held at First Christian church parlors at 2 Sunday led by Rev Jack Oliver followed by cremation committal.
Mrs Foster Wilson 65 mother of State Rep Robert F Wilson of 1100 Regent Street NE will be laid to rest Saturday afternoon in Rockwell City where she lived for years. She died Thursday after a long illness. Survivors include her husband and another son John of Milwaukee, besides her son Robert.
The service will be held Friday at 1 p m in Turner chapel conducted by Rev Milton R Vogel. Burial will take place at Newton Union cemetery.
