Clement D Ryan former Montgomery Ward president and Whitney's chief in San Diego was among Utah crash victims.
Chicago AP reports Miss Sabina Joswick, 30, assistant chief stewardess for United Air Lines, was killed in the Bryce Canyon Utah crash. She was not normally on that ship's crew and was in Utah for a supervisory checkup of two other stewardesses, Shirley Hickey and Helen Morrissey. Co pilot was George Greisbach, 25. The article notes Joswick’s origins in Lorain Ohio and residence in Burbank California.

Walter Landmeyer a 56 year old of 1104 Fourteenth Avenue SE was struck by a south bound Northwestern freight train at the Tenth avenue SE and Fifth street right of way shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday He died from a head injury and was pronounced dead on arrival at Mercy hospital Witnesses said he walked between two track sets and turned into the approaching locomotive driven by Engineer H R Reynolds Police noted papers in his possession suggesting railway employment.
CHICAGO (UP) A pocket size radiation detector unveiled Friday is claimed by inventor Dr. O G Landsverk of the University of Chicago to have been intended for invasion troops bound for Japan. Called the assault meter the device would detect rays from U S atomic bombs or any atomic weapons the Japanese might have. It is a fraction the size of a standard Geiger counter and can be carried in a hip pocket and used by anyone who can read a watch.
Earl Lintz a 48 year old automobile salesman died after a night of heavy drinking and an attempted revival by a friend. The coroner attributed death to pulmonary and cerebral edema from chronic and acute alcoholism. Police note Lintz was seen at Miss Grace Heaths apartment and later with Clarence Huber visiting two bars before being found unresponsive in a jeep. He is survived by a wife a son and several relatives. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Plane builder Howard Hughes announced launching and taxi tests of his $25 million wooden flying boat will be held November 5 to 10 in Los Angeles harbor. The Telegrams were sent to Senators Owen Brewster Homer Ferguson Harry Cain and J Howard McGrath of the subcommittee probing Hughes government contracts.
