New Provisions Limit Interest and Terminate Leases for Servicemen

Provisions of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Relief Act limit debt interest to 6 percent for pre service obligations unless a court finds otherwise and allow terminating leases after entry into military service with 30 days notice. The act protects dependents, allows court stayed actions, and enables rent allotments from service members' pay. Local courts decide mortgage and contract forfeiture matters, with safeguards for equity and repayments.
