Cedar Rapids man testifies in attempted murder case denies abuse
Jerry Matthews 29 testifies he did not abuse his ex girlfriend during their six year relationship. He claims she stabbed him first on January 5 and that he then stabbed her and himself. He denies slapping or choking her and says her wounds came from glass after a fall. Prosecutors note prior forgery theft and other convictions. Deliberations to begin after closing arguments.
