Iowa State, 2-5 overall, 0-4 in the Big 12, pulled off a 25-20 victory at Baylor as red-shirt freshman Meyer directed an 80-yard, 10-play march for the decisive score. Baylor fumbled, intercepted and miscued on key plays in a costly loss. Todd Blythe and Brent Currey shined for ISU on offense and defense.
No. 22 Oklahoma State erased a 17 point deficit to beat Missouri 20 to 17 in Columbia. Donovan Woods connected with D Juan Woods for a 97 yard gain on third and four to keep a pivotal drive alive before Jason Ricks nailed the game winning 28 yard field goal with 55 seconds left.
Freshmen push to 1,000 yards with a 126 yard game. Kansas falls to Oklahoma as Mangino returns to Norman. No. 8 Texas overwhelms Texas Tech 51 21 at Lubbock with Vince Young posting 300 yards total offense and four rushing TDs. Cedric Benson adds 168 yards.
Iowa State redshirt freshman quarterback Bret Meyer engineered a late 80-yard scoring drive for a 26-25 victory at Floyd Casey Stadium. Meyer, who finished 12 of 18 for 148 yards and a TD, rallied the Cyclones in the waning minutes with Todd Blythe catching key passes including a 46-yard strike. Blythe tied a single-season school record with eight TD receptions. Baylor, 0-4 in the Big 12, lost on a late penalty and a defensive struggle.
