Richard Babic, 17, spent 43 days in solitary confinement on bread, water, milk and vitamins after pleading guilty to burglary in an adult court. Judge Alfonso Magnotta called the term shock therapy and said the experiment aimed to curb juvenile delinquency. Babic, released Friday, thanked the judge and pledged to reform.
Wherton The Halsey-Stuart Co of Chicago secured the sale of 210000 dollars in Marion school bonds at 3.7215 percent with a 37.50 premium. Other bidders included Quail and Co Davenport 3.881 percent Carlton Belt Co Des Moines 3.955 percent White- Phillips Co with Iowa-Des Moines National Bank and Becker Cownie Co Davenport 3.8945 percent.
Joseph Sutera 80 of Robins died Saturday at 1 15 am in a Cedar Rapids hospital after a brief illness. Services Monday at 1 30 pm in the Murdoch chapel Marion with burial at Cedar Memorial. Mrs Russell Cuthamp suffered a head injury when she lost control of her car Friday on Highway 92 east of Columbus Junction and skidded into a ditch. She was taken to Muscatine hospital.
