Farm Income Drops 4 Percent in Nine Months
The Agriculture Department reports cash farm income for January through September 1955 at 19.7 billion dollars, a four percent drop from 1954 while the total volume of farm products remains near last year. Livestock receipts fell five percent led by a 29 percent drop in hog prices, dairy stayed about the same, poultry and eggs rose slightly, and crop receipts declined three percent with soybeans, tobacco, and vegetables offsetting some losses. The report notes prices paid by farmers broadly similar to last year and September prices rising after four months of declines.

Neighbors Harvest 140 Acres of Corn for Victor Farmer

Senators Propose Quality Tied Farm Price Supports

Clark Land in Tama County Sold After Century Ownership

Theodore F Clark and Leander Clark formerly ran a sawmill along Wolf creek and donated the timbered land and mill site to the Town Conservation Commission now Theodore F Clark state park. Leander Clark college named in his honor merged with Coe college. Mrs May Clark McCornack and her son and daughter-in-law have resided on the farm since 1949. The 340 acres with buildings sold to Henry Hilmer for 320 dollars per acre and the unimproved 160 acres to Lester Keese at 265 dollars per acre.
