Judge ruling limits Iowa DOT speed enforcement authority
Polk County District Court Associate Judge Heather Lauber dismissed a speeding ticket issued to Peyton Atzen 16, citing lack of authority for Iowa Department of Transportation officers to enforce most moving violations. The decision may be appealed. DOT plans to review options and continues non commercial enforcement. The case centers on a 84 mph in a 55 mph zone ticket issued near Southeast Polk High School.
