Benghazi hearing turns testy on Clinton emails and transcripts

The House Benghazi committee clashed over emails and witness transcripts as Hillary Clinton testified. Clinton dodged accusations of security lapse and misinforming the public while Republicans pressed about Sidney Blumenthal access compared with Ambassador Stevens. The session yielded few new details and showcased partisan bickering over the 2012 Libya attacks.

Oxford voters to decide library levy in November election

In Oxford, residents will vote November 3 on a five year property tax levy for the Oxford Public Library. The measure would add 27 cents per $1,000 of taxable value, estimated to raise just over $4,000 annually for operating costs. The levy, now under review, aims to fund a reinvigorated library board and expanded services at 112 N Augusta Ave in a town of about 800. Mayor Gary Wilkinson notes renewed volunteer involvement and public interest in library improvements. A 2014 state check found the 27 cent levy had previously run 2011 to 2014 without a public vote.
