The Three Mile Island commission fell short of the seven votes required to urge a moratorium on new reactor construction. Reports say six supported a pause while three or four opposed it, leaving the issue as a future matter. President Carter extended most favored nation tariff status to the People’s Republic of China and urged Congress to quickly approve a bilateral trade agreement.
