Cedar Rapids man Charles Joss 30 skipped sentencing on a gun charge and was given an indeterminate term of up to five years plus a three month report requirement to prison authorities for possible sentence alteration. He was convicted last July of false statements in purchasing a firearm.

Strikes at Amana and Turner Continue With Meetings Planned
No new developments Thursday in the Amana Refrigeration and Turner Co. strikes in Cedar Rapids. Local 1354 members at Turner may vote on a contract at a Friday 7:30 p.m. IBEW hall meeting. Amana machinists schedule a Friday 9 a.m. informational session at the Williamsburg roller rink. About 900 workers have been on strike at Amana, with enough returns to start a second production line.
