Cyclist Injured After Mount Vernon Road Crash

Cedar Rapids man 26, Donald J. Walderbach, was struck from behind by a car driven by 20 year old Martin L. Polton on Mount Vernon Road at 34th Street. Walderbach suffered head injuries and was admitted in fair condition to Mercy Hospital. Polton faces charges of failing to maintain control.

Fire devastates Camp Fuji barracks in typhoon blast

A gasoline storage tank exploded and fire swept the Camp Fuji barracks area after typhoon winds toppled the tank. One Marine died and at least 46 were injured, seven critically, with most victims Americans hospitalized in the area.
